The project talks about a documentary-film (who wants to become a tv serie),
about a boy and a girl left for Japan to begin a new life:
"Yago and Hitomi, born and bred in Italy, don’t know each other and will
have to wait for a fortuitous encounter at thousands of miles from home to create
the presupposition of a new life together.
The four months spent by the two characters trying to cut out their own space within the several facets of modern Japan, introduce an intense month, full of events which will confront He and She with their study, work, friendship, a strong spirituality, love, setting them face to face with reality.
Arriving in Japan, they will find themselves immersed in a culture in strong contrast with their own, in which they will try to find their place, albeit with great difficulty.
Help from characters such as the monk, the soothsayer and the best friend, taken straight out of the stereotyped anime character pool, will be fundamental to guide their steps. In particular an extremely important role will be played by His Japanese teacher.
Entwined love stories, ruined friendships, rivalries and jealousies, will define the relationships between the characters. Such an unstable balance will be the main thread of the story.
She is a student of Japanese art and culture, graduated at the University of Venice, and She’s a dedicated cosplayer. She has recently moved to Kyoto for a postgraduate course. Thanks to previous trips in Japan, thanks to her dedication to cosplay, she already has a few friends and considers Japan as a second home.
He, and Italian musician, decides to leave for Japan after getting in touch with a few Japanese peers and making friends with them. Since his native city is twinned with Kyoto, that is his chosen destination. He doesn’t speak the language, but he wants to become a star at all costs. Hosted by a Buddhist monk, he enrolled on a Japanese course at university, thanks to help from his friends he will be able to make his dream come true, and maybe even find love."
